The COVID crisis has disrupted almost every aspect of our lives.  As we approach the summer, we are realizing that normal patterns of summer vacations may be affected. State regulations related to COVID and travel quarantines are constantly changing, and so it is not possible to create a single policy or “rule” that covers every situation.  Rather, the “rule of love” (protecting those we work with, live with, serve (kids) and love by continued reasonable social distancing) needs to be applied wholeheartedly by each individual and family.  There is just no way around it, irresponsible actions in this time period put people at risk.  The following guidelines will be applied to each and every vacation request.

1)  Parents are free to request and go on vacations according to our normal vacation policies.  However, there should be a detailed conversation with your director on the level of risk associated with your planned trip, and any quarantine time upon return will be at the discretion of your director.

2)  Determining level of risk is not easy, and is determined by many factors including, but not limited to:

  • The state or area you are traveling to, and the stage of COVID outbreak they are experiencing
  • The amount of people and type of activities you will be interacting with
  • The method of travel (airplane, car, etc),

3) We now know that a complete quarantine to achieve “0 Risk” is 14 days.  Vacations/Trips deemed to be high risk may require the entire 14 days before returning to daycare.

4) In most cases, we will be looking at a 7-10 day “soft-quarantine”, associated with a diligent daily temperature reading.  If, after 7-10 days, your child’s temperature is stable, your child can return to daycare.

Thank you,
